This course offers an intensive exploration of the ocean as both a vital ecological system and a key frontier of contemporary capitalism. Bringing together perspectives from political ecology, ocean governance, environmental justice, and post-growth debates, it examines topics such as:
The blue economy and its critiques
Ocean governance and global policy frameworks
Blue carbon and climate finance
Shipping, ports, and global logistics
Community economies, conservation, and the arts
Designed for researchers, activists, professionals, and students, the course combines critical theory with real-world cases and collective discussion.
Course format:
5 live online sessions (2.5 hours each)
Wednesdays, 17:00–19:30 (CEST)
Small group (max. 30 participants)
Certificate upon completion
