Dear SCORAIers!
We’re happy to invite you to another cross-pollination session of the Working Group on Sustainable Consumption Communication (WgCoCo). This time Prof. Jacinta Kellermann from Bochum University of Applied Sciences and her students will present some results of their transdisciplinary project “Repair Culture Ruhr”, which aims to establish a culture of repairing among the citizens of the Ruhr Area in Germany (the largest post-industrial metropolitan area in Europe). They are going to focus on a very successful book project they have realized in cooperation with the “Verbraucherzentrale” (Federal Consumer Association), which not only provides low-threshold consumer education about repairability of electronic household appliances, but also aims to establish a mindset where consumers deliberately evaluate the repairability of products before making purchase decisions as part of their typical consumption habits. The presenters will first give a short input on how they approached this important aspect of sustainable consumption communication, based on which theoretical and practical considerations, and how the result actually performs in reality. And of course, there will be plenty of time to discuss, what lessons can be learned from this particular example, to share your own experiences, and to just exchange and connect with others who are doing research or activism (or both) in the area of sustainable consumption communication (or related aspects).
Date: December 13th (Friday)
Time: 13:00 CET / 7:00 EDT
Save the date and join us on Zoom!
