PCSX4 is an experimental PS4 Emulator project written in C++ for Windows and macOS. The first and the only legit emulator which allows you to play PS4 games on both PC & Mac. It uses OpenGL, Vulkan and DirectX as its back-end API renderers and runs most of the PS4 exclusives on high-end machines. There will be frequent updates which you can grab from the download section.

PS4 is based on x86_64 architecture so PCSX4 runs natively on Windows systems by taking advantage of OGRE, Vulcan API and Orbital hardware-assisted virtualization. PCSX4 renders games smoothly without compromising the visual quality. macOS is also supported with Metal (API), check FAQ,s for more info.

You can now play PS4 games on PC & MAC at variable frame rates with buttery smooth experience as most of the titles can now run at 60 FPS and beyond. If you have a dedicated GPU that has Vulkan support, then you can expect a decent performance.

hey first of all my Eng is bad so sorry i have problem is there's any way to
run ps4 and ps5 games on launchbox I've seen some people playing ps4 and ps5 games on bigbox and how can i download games is there is any good website and thx.

but as far as I know there is no working PS4 and PS5 emulator available - PS4 makes good progress with at least one game that already starts but is far from playable. and for PS5 I am not aware that we are near to

I haven't followed either one of these very closely since they are both still so early in development that they do not run any commercial software and probably won't for at least another couple of years

I saw (deleted) on Instagram selling HDDs with PS5 and PS4 emulators, claiming he personally programmed them.
and I think its PC versions games as @CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT mentioned : "these are just the PC versions of those games; not emulated at all."

In the realm of gaming, the allure of playing console-exclusive titles on alternative platforms has always been enticing. With the rise of emulators, players have sought ways to experience their favourite games beyond their original consoles. Among these desires, the possibility of emulating PlayStation 4 (PS4) games on other platforms has sparked considerable interest.

PCSX4 gained attention as a purported PS4 emulator promising the emulation of PS4 games on various platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux. However, despite its claims and marketing efforts, the reality is that PCSX4 is a gimmick with no functioning emulator to emulate PS4 games.

Experience the frontier of gaming emulation with RPCSX, a pioneering PS4 emulator tailored for Linux systems. Engineered with meticulous attention to detail in C++, RPCSX promises to revolutionize gaming for Linux users, offering unprecedented access to the vast library of PS4 titles and transforming the gaming landscape.

Emerging as a potential contender in the realm of PS4 emulation, ShardPS4 aims to provide a legitimate solution for running PS4 games on compatible hardware. While still in the early stages of development, ShardPS4 shows promise and transparency in its development process.

I'd love to play Bloodborne or Persona 5 on my PC, and that is actually possible, sort of: Bloodborne is available in Sony's PlayStation Now streaming service, which lets you play games from the cloud on a PS4 or PC. But what about a PS4 emulator that runs the games I own on real PC hardware? Are PCs powerful enough to run a PS4 emulator? Is PCSX4 a real emulator, or a fake?

No. As of early 2019, real PlayStation 4 emulation on PC is impossible. If you're familiar with hardware emulation, this may not come as a big surprise. Creating an emulator requires reverse-engineering what a piece of hardware is doing when it runs games, then rewriting that functionality for an entirely different platform, like a Windows PC. This process takes years, and also typically requires far more powerful hardware than the original machine. Dolphin, an emulator for the GameCube and Wii, has been in development for more than a decade, and is still improving. The same goes for PCSX2, a great, popular PS2 emulator.

There is a PlayStation 3 emulator, called RPCS3, that can run more than 1000 PS3 games in a playable state. But that's only about a third of the library. Many others work, but have too many glitches or performance issues to run well.

PCSX2 is a real PS2 emulator. It's great. PCSX4 is a scam that tries to look legitimate with a similar name. PCSX4's website is an impressive-looking fake, with embedded Youtube videos, an FAQ, and even a Github page where the code for this "semi open source" project is supposedly held. But there are some telltale signs it's a fake. Its Github repository has no activity and no people attached to it. The FAQ looks convincing, even going so far as to list errors, but its hardware requirements raise a big red flag. A PS4 emulator would be far more demanding than what PCSX4 lists. According to a reddit thread documenting the scam, PCSX4's previous YouTube channel was shut down for its fake videos.

Here's the real giveaway that PCSX4 is a scam: When you click the download link, it asks you to fill out a survey first. No legitimate emulator project is going to make you fill out a survey to download anything.

You may have run into these kinds of surveys before. They say you may be able to win a new iPhone or some other prize, but after a few minutes of clicking you end up redirected to yet another survey. Someone makes money off your time, and you don't get the thing you were promised. Don't bother. PCSX4 is just a scam, and there's actually a real PS4 emulator you should check out, instead.

Unfortunately, even if development continues, it'll be years before Orbital can run games. It's also possible that other PS4 emulators will appear with different approaches or faster development. But for right now, Orbital's the only game in town.

If you own a PS4, I have good news: It is now capable of playing PS2 games through emulation. Rather unusually, though, Sony hasn't actually announced anything officially. The PS2 emulator was discovered by Eurogamer when it was sent a new PS4 Star Wars bundle containing three games that originally debuted on the PS2. Eurogamer entered a PSN download key, their PS4 downloaded all of the old games... and then the classic PlayStation 2 logo appeared "in all its upscaled glory."

Following Eurogamer's expos, a Sony spokesperson then confirmed with Wired that the PS2 emulator exists: "We are working on utilising PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time."

Rather excitingly, the quality of emulation is rather good, too. As you can see in the video above, the PS4's PS2 emulator is running at a much higher resolution than the original PS2. Original PS2 titles usually output at a native resolution of either 512448 or 640448. The emulated PS2 games on the PS4, though, appear to have a native resolution of 1292896, and then a final pillarboxing and upscaling to 1080p. The total pixel count is around 4 the original.

While there's some clever upscaling and post-processing, there isn't much that can be done to the original 2D assets: they still look very similar to how they originally looked at the turn of the millennium. The 3D assets, though, which enjoy a huge boost in resolution and some kind of anti-aliasing effect, look very good.

Frame rates are good, too. In the video above, you can see that the PS4 is emulating the PS2 at a fairly solid 60FPS, while the original PS2 can't get anywhere close to that. These Star Wars games aren't that graphically intensive, though; as Eurogamer notes, it will be really exciting if the emulator can run Metal Gear Solid 3 or God of War at higher frame rates.
