Hi, the question is a bit intricate, but I can tell you how I do it.
When I just want to create a Sim, I select New Game and automatically I am in CAS, at which point I create the sim and then to save it I click the top right button (the one with the folder and arrow) and it is saved in the Library (which I can only see, as it is not shared in the Gallery). At that point I can exit CAS without saving the game, because the Sim remains saved in the Library. The next time I restart the game I can choose New Game again and recall the Sim in CAS, or select an existing game, open the Library, and place the Sim in any lot worth at most $20000.

The library is yours and the gallery is where others share their creations with other players. Your Households are where they are always available, whether in the library or not. Other Households is for Townies/NPCs. But there is a recommendation for the maximum size of your Households and you may choose to move Sims over to Other Households to make room by using the options on each household image in Manage Households. I do this often. It won't affect the Library copy. It means they become Townies and keep their skills and relationships. Other Households can be subject to culls where Sims are deleted but I regularly delete random Sims added by the game and keep the number below 100. I've not lost anyone I've created out of Other Households.

When you create your sim you will see the option to save them to your library if you want to. I don't always do that. It means that if you lose your Sim their basic self will be saved but any life experience aren't added to the library copy, unless you save them there again later. Sometimes that adds their skills, etc but not always and family links in a household may need to be re established.

So as an example. I lost my entire game but I had library copies of many of my Sims. I'd saved their full and completed households to my library and I still had the basic original Sims too so I had various options to add them back to my world. I had saved their houses to my library too. All I had to do was link them to their family members in CAS again, place their houses again and put them back. By using the households I'd saved with all their skills, etc. It meant they were good to go. If I'd added the original Sim I'd saved at creation they'd have had no skills, etc.

I use SyncThing. (If I include a link, will they edit it as being "commercial"? it's free and open source!) Basically, I have it synchronizing my entire Sims 4 folder between the two machines (with a few exceptions, notably cache and ini files).

Again, this is almost certainly overkill, but... your Sims, your saves, your builds, your mods... they're all saved as files. Anything that synchronizes the files between the two machines should work; I mainly use SyncThing because it's free and doesn't leave my home network. You could instead copy files to and from the cloud service of your choice at the beginning and end of all play sessions (which is what I used to do).

All the households currently live in Willow Creek. Oasis Springs and Newcrest are completely empty. This is done on purpose. I plan to make an update in the future with the Strangetown Sims living in Oasis Springs 25 years later. In the meantime, you can always move some of the families to the other worlds if you like.

Mary-Sue worked her way up the career ladder to become Vice President. But at what cost? Her marriage to Daniel crumbled when she caught him cheating with the maid. She raised her son Ivan to a young man on her own. Can she ever forgive her ex-husband? And can Ivan find peace with his father too?

Dustin Broke married his first love, Angela Pleasant, and they have two beautiful children together. But will his criminal ways destroy the family? And can Angela ever make amends with her twin sister Lilith?

The late Darren Dreamer became a famous artist and made a lot of money for his family before he passed away. Brandi used the money wisely to purchase a home and care for her sons, Bobby and David. Can Brandi accept that her boys are growing up and will soon be on their own?

This is glorious! I watched the Youtube Video and annoyed my husband gushing over the lore (which he knows nothing about). This is really some great work! Any plans to do the other worlds as well? Strangetown could be really fun!!
Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing!!

Hi Cindy! I know you post this a few months ago, but this gave me some simspiration to make my own save of my curretly pleasantview in TS4. I create the families separately, and I need to ask, how did you manage all the family trees? Did you use some mod (Like the mcc)? For sure, is very fun create all my favorite sims in the sims 4, but I really wanna add all the drama too lol.

After the death of beloved Mortimer, Alex rejected anything scientific and supernatural and instead pursued the management career, filing generic reports in his evenings after work. But when Casper finds his Dad's old chemistry set in a cupboard he's drawn into the world of scientific advancement, spending his evenings stargazing up on the Goth mansion roof. And as for wife Lucy, is she hiding secrets of her own? Alongside her rising fame as a freelance author, is that a cauldron hiding in the attic? Will Alex ever understand the dreams and choices of his family or will these secrets drive their perfect family apart?

i love your sims 4 save file for pleasant view 25 years later great idea big fan of you and you work and your you tube channel i have a question is it possible you could do this for sims 3 like when you did the pleasant view save file but this time make it like you did with sims 4 25 years later

Today I needed to transfer a few Sims out of a family. It's not that hard to do but there is a lot of steps to it so I'm writing a post so I don't forget what I did today! Getting old is not all that it's cracked up to be!

One of the things I do when playing my Legacy Challange family is saving the whole family to my Library. You can do this by going to manage household which will take you to the edit mode. From there, click on the upper right save folder and save.

One of the reasons I have been saving my families is so I can go back, after I finish my legacy challenge, and play some of the children I didn't have time to. The question then becomes how do I get just one of the children out of the large family so I can play them?

Once your Library is open, click on the box that holds the family with the Sim you want to play on its own. Then click on the icon in the lower right corner to place the whole family on a lot. I can be any lot, they will not be there very long.

A warning here! If you now leave that Sim on the other side, they will age. All by themselves. A lesson I learn the hard way. So we have to do a few more things to get them out of the, not in this world mode of the game.

As you can now see he has been ripped from his loving family and left all on his own. You could play him now just like this but today I was saving him for a friend to play so I needed to be able to make him a young adult and share him to the gallery so @simgirl could then download him and play him when it was time.

To save you from some frustration, okay a LOT of frustration, I will tell you here that you can now take that sim into edit mode but all you will be able to do is change their clothes. Sooooooo we move on, hats still on our heads.

A box, yes, another box......... will come up asking if you want to save your game before you go to manage worlds. Do not save your game. As of right now, you have sims everywhere that you don't want to play. If you do save your game at this point you will have to go through and delete all the extra and maybe double sims you have. It's just not worth the headache to save here. Trust me on this one. LOL

Go to the upper right and click on the 3 dots and exit your game. Once again do not save. Our new Sim was saved to your Library when you were in the create a Sim mode of the game.

I'm guessing the game has been hard coded to use C:\ instead of checking where the documents directory is, you could use a NTFS Symbolic Link to workaround it. This will essentially create a shortcut, that programs will actually follow it properly.

Of course supplement the directories for the ones you're using. You can either do it for the entire Documents directory or just for The Sims 3 data. In other words, move the Sims 3 folder, for example, to drive D before entering the above command.

Hi I had the same problem with installing it into A Drive and then there was still files in C. I came across a website that helped me. Dracs got part of the Symbolic link right but this one works 100% and I've used it.

This will make a junction (symbolic hard link) to D:\Sims3 from the original location. It will recreate the folder you moved in the first step, but now as a symbolic link. Think of this as a folder level shortcut.

Try uninstalling it then when you re-install it, use the custom download option and set it where you want it to save, unless that's what you mean when you said, "I've changed my 'Documents' target on Windows 7 to target a folder on my D: drive."

i have an iphone 3gs and before everyone rushes to tell me that iphones don't save contacts to sim - they do! my old iphone got dropped in some water. i put the sim into a spare 3gs, performed no restores or anything, yet immediately most of my contacts appeared like magic. lots of more recent ones were missing however. i have seen one post on the net suggesting that iphone saves the first 250 contacts to sim and nothing thereafter.
