Hi folks.
Lisa Anzalone and I are leading a short hike on Sunday, July 13 at 5:00 pm at the Gordon Natural Area - part of the West Chester University campus.
This is an "outdoor classroom" for the
Biology, Earth Science and other courses at WCU.
We’ll talk about the need for “active management” of this
natural area to preserve its appropriate habitat for wild birds and mammals in the woods. Check out the
2024 GNA Olympics video on Facebook to see a sample of the wildlife in this area.
We will be walking on the Big Woods Trail, which is a 1.1 mile dirt trail loop within the GNA.
Leashed well behaved pets are welcome. Children must be supervised by an accompanying adult. We’ll be covering the 1.1 mile in about 1 hour or less. There are no steep hills.
All shaded, but you may want to bring some mosquito/tick repellant.
Directions to the parking lot will be sent to registered participants.
Hope everyone is staying cool. Sierra Club has more activities in store for the summer. Hope you can stay engaged at this important time.
Jim
