However, I don't advise cheating if there are any signs of moisture damage near your windows. When you open up your walls to replace your windows, carefully inspect the rough sill and sheathing condition at the lower two corners of the window rough openings. If these areas are damp or spongy, you should address these moisture entry issues by removing all of the siding from your house and addressing the issue properly.

It would, of course, be best to fully install a house wrap, especially if you find any damage to the sheathing that is not immediately adjacent to the windows. If the only degradation is at the window, then this might be a reasonable compromise.

Looking to resurrect this thread to seek advice. I have to replace a couple windows in my 1978 house built in Connecticut that is sheathed in a type of T1-11 panelling. There is no house wrap underneath the paneling. From the outside going in - it is the panel siding, then framing/insulation. The windows are the original Anderson casement that are block frame and were water resistant by using a brickmould that has a gasket against the siding and caulked at the perimeter. The top of the windows don't even have drip caps, they are only caulked.

It's probably the trickiest situation you can run into. There are good options to seal windows to sheathing when there is no house-wrap (as is the case with Zip panels), but when the window is mounted to a combined sheathing/cladding like T1-11 you are basically stuck with having to rely on a system similar to what was there originally.

The Add-WindowsCapability cmdlet does have a method for installing from a local package file. I've copied the example from the link here. The key is the -Source parameter which should point to the location of the CAB file containing the windows feature to be installed.

How can I reset my pc without losing the drivers as Iam going to sell this pc. I tried the reset option on windows where I can keep some files but delete all other but that option still deletes my driver's like my audio drivers. If anyone know how to do it please comment. Thanks

Unless you have very specific hardware windows will install most drives during install.
There is no way to reset without removing drivers but you can just reinstall the drivers after the reset. That you can still sell it. There is a good change that the next owner will rest it again anyway

that's not how that works. if the data is still on the drive it will just create new "links" when you reinstall windows. unless you're talking about formatting the drive, and if so that wipes everything indiscriminately, files, OS, Drivers, literally everything, it will still exist on the drive but will be marked as "empty" and the old data will eventually be written over

You can also create a custom system image if you want. Using Windows Image Deployment tools, you can create an image with the drivers you want to have installed.

Just want to start my mount from login/boot without having a cmd window open. I have the batch file and when using shell:startup, it works and runs when i log in but the cmd window just stays open ready to print a log for me. Want to just get rid of it and mount only

how can I scroll (with the mouse wheel) boxes without bringing their parent windows to top. Or in other words: Scrolling that element, that is under the mouse pointer, but not changing the layers of windows.
In KDE this is possible and very practically.

I found the trick: In Window Manager Tweaks (a different panel than Window Manager) on the Accessibility tab there is a checkbox called Raise windows when any mouse button is pressed. Uncheck that and then you can scroll wheel in your windows without raising them. Clicking in the window to raise it will still work.

How to run Grafana/Influx solution natively on Windows without Docker

(I initially provided my solution as a "question". But my contribution is more of an "article".)

Since I have an IT business and websites and internet services are also offered to our customers, I wanted to display the VRM data using Grafana. Since we have more know-how with Microsoft Windows than with Linux and I didn't want to learn how to use Docker professionally, I switched the system to Windows.

Sometimes I need to show just the walls, without the windows or doors. Currently there is no way to do this. If I hide windows/doors that also hides the host wall. I'd like to be able to hide windows/doors without hiding their host walls.
