rock went on to say that he has an old downbeat magazine from 1965,
which has an article on elvin jones in which it is stated
that "elvin casually plays figures that most other
drummers will only realize in theory".
he was glad to read this as he was also dismayed at the
absence of info regarding the passing of elvin jones.
it is beyond any kind of explaining that he might be
able to do, tho one cannot say any more than santana
has already said. he often tell folks that one of the
reasons that he listens to so much coltrane is because
of elvin jones.
duple--right. it was about elvin's ability to play in
duple and triple meters simultaneously. basically, to
play 4/4 or 2/4 and 3/4 at the same time. kind of
incredible.
at the time of elvin jones passing, Bush had been elected for the second
time and rock didn't know that he was able to recover from the election--he
probably
still has fantasies about moving to italy or spain
till it all passes. whih in my opinion it still has not even with the
election of obama. He only hoped that the insanity of
the whole arrangement dawns on a few more people over
time. it apparently did dawn on a lot of people but as far as I am conerned
obama wasn't the cure

at the time he was making a movie
his involvement with the movie was on hiatus. then. I think they eventually
scrapped the whole thing.
rock was so angry at the director and the producer that he
wrote each of them a long angry letter basically
telling them to work out their differences and issues
and to get back to him.

In the meantime, my sister wrote to ask, that she Forgot one more question
about the Bush election. Now that she had been watching the Daily News
more often since her denial of the election results (and needed a wave of
comic relief to bring hrtself to accept it), she actually knows a tiny
little bit more of what's going on in the world, then usual, and she has one
question for me. All these resignations.... Secretaries of State
and Agriculture & Education, and 5 others she thought? All these
resignations.... is that "the norm" for second term re-elected
presidents? Are that many chnages in cabinet expected? Or is it unusual
for all these people to be runnning like rats from a sinking ship? And
WHY? she didn't recall noticing that sort of thing in the past.

I wanted to point out that she had never paid attention to politics in past
years, so how would she have noticed it

And while we're on the topic, having watched much news about it, she
commented that she thinks
that she may dislike Condoleeza even more than Bush. If that's even
possible. She asked WHO in the world in the Bush family has SHE been
sleeping with
to be getting all these high-power jobs? It's like she's this little
brown Mini-Me of him or something she said. She would cartoon her as that
charcater
whose name ecaped her but , a little dog that yaps along side his masters
feet, and always says "WHere we goin? What are we doing? Now? Where?
How? Where we goin?"

What character was she thinking of? I thought maybe it was Catdog
