Improvements to map tile rendering through Matplotlib

Hello,

First post here, if I am breaking any rules or etiquette, please let me know.

In my project, we were hoping to use matplotlib and cartopy to create maps for publishing, and have run up against the problem described here: https://github.com/SciTools/cartopy/issues/1048

I was just wondering if anyone was actually working on this, or is planning to, or otherwise if anyone is aware of a workaround. Posted this on stack overflow as well, and got no responses.

No worries. It is pretty reasonable to ask here too. Hopefully you got the answer you were looking for in the issue tracker / StackOverflow (which was essentially to make use of matplotlib's interpolation keyword argument).
