Has anyone tried installing and running Iris on the new "Bash on Ubuntu on Windows" environment which arrived in August as part of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (see
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/commandline/wsl/about).
I am an Ubuntu user who from time-to-time requires MS Word - I use a VM which for many reasons is not ideal. Being able to run my bash/python scripts across both Linux and Windows machines is quite attractive.
Are there any known/foreseeable drawbacks in running python/numpy/iris on Bash for Windows? Is CPU and disk IO performanace comparable with standard Ubuntu Linux?
TIA
Scott
