Hi all,

As you will probably have seen, we've really ramped up the effort on the iris release over the last few weeks. We're getting seriously close at this point, so I've opened up a project board on github (the first item of which is to make this announcement!) which tracks the remaining work.

My expectation is that we will actually be able to cut a release candidate today or Monday (30th Oct).

As usual, I anticipate at least 2 weeks worth of user-testing and feedback of the release candidate before we consider cutting the tagged release, but would close the v2.0.x branch for new features unless they are show-stoppers for the actual release. Documentation improvement remains fair game right up to the actual release.

There is more detail to follow regarding the 2.0 release, but for now, I just wanted to raise the fact that we are getting really close to being able to cut the candidate.

Thanks to all involved!

Phil

Unfortunately there was a delay to the cutting of the release candidate.

The revised date for the cut of Iris 2.0rc1 will be the 5th January, allowing time for any outstanding changes that need to be made.

Regards,
Laura

I've just announced the v2.0.0rc1 release candidate on the iris user's mailinglist.

Please try out this version of Iris and feedback any issues encountered.

Thanks,

Phil
