Seems like I always use the wrong address, whenever I want to send anyone anything ;-)

Anyway, here goes again!

Subject: Notes of 10 September meeting

Below my notes from the meeting earlier today...

Most urgent action item:

@RWTH, @CELSTEC: please send an update of current status to the googlegroup
@Marcus: we should discuss how we can organize five computers in public spaces at ECTEL, and a place to put the tabletop if Bram gets it to work in time

- Bram:
- working on hardware, projector hopefully arrives next week
- experimenting with libraries
- maybe adapt ESPOL application for multitouch
- maybe something like the VTM news in Flanders (?)
- Fridolin:
- recommender and Flashmeeting
- fossa: graph rendering in actionscript
- visualiing different kinds of contributors
- Till:
- thanks to Sten for the data
- added geocodes
- working on combinations of visualizations
- co-citation would be cool, but need good data (Sten?)
- Xavier/ESPOL
- extracting data from papers: last version of parscit
- thanks to Sten for converting to database
- EdMedia app copied to EcTel
- co-citers are interesting find
> make available at ECTEL, maybe as a way to contact people
- working with Fridolin on combining ECTEL data and Flashmeeting data
(see google group for illustrations)
- maybe add way to figure out why people are connected?
- doubles in data (Germany, most prolific)
- Xavier added geo-data and will upload them to database
so did Till, who already uploaded data
  needs to be merged
- Sten
- transformed xml to database and cleaned up manually
- hibernate binding on top of the database
- REST web service to retrieve data in JSON
- researched components to use in mash-up
- later: return co-authors, co-citers, cited papers, ... in web service
- graphML is potentially useful?
- on top of google scholar etc.
> good topic for Science2Tel workshop, make a good linked data citizen
- data
- add all of TEL conferences eventually

Here an update of what we did:
  • made a java library for reading RFID tags using the (cheap) touchatag libraries.
  • shared that library with Xavier
  • Idea is to created an application that (based on two RFID tags) can analyse and visualise citation connections between these two people.
  • Mobile learning experiments with android platform
    • barcodes
    • GPS, compass
    • augmented reality applications using wikitude and gamaray api using MACE content (not sure if we can use this here though)
Best,
Stefaan
