Hello,
switching from SciTE 3.2.3 to 3.2.4 for Windows (http://
opensource.ebswift.com/SciTEInstaller/) I am not able to get any more
the Italian translation of the software.
The Italian translation file (1.7.7) http://www.scintilla.org/locale.it.properties
which I've been using without problems in many previous SciTE versions
is not working anymore: I only get the default English menus.
Neither is working a newer translation (1.21) like this one
http://scite-files.googlecode.com/svn-history/trunk/translations/locale.it.properties
Can you help?
Thank you
Best Regards

Emanuele

Works for me with 3.2.4 on Windows with either an explicit setting or just copying into the executable directory. Where did you place the locale.it.properties file, what did you name it, and have you set a locale.properties value in user properties?

Hi Neil,
I did just like I've been doing all the previous times (where I had no
problems at all): renamed locale.it.properties to locale.properties
and placed it in "C:\Program Files (x86)\SciTE" on Win7 OS or "C:
\Programmi\SciTE" on WinXP OS. Actually I never had to that recently
since the uninstall/install process leaves locale.properties in the
folder mentioned; so I always automatically had the Italian
translation available upon uninstalling an old version and installing
a new one (in the same location).
I never set a locale.properties value in user properties since I never
had problems before with the Italian translation.
Could you give me details about that so that I could try it?
Thank you!

Solved.
locale.properties must go into
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Dati applicazioni\SciTE" on WinXP
Italian OS
or
"C:\Users\All Users\SciTE" on Win7 OS

But, again, to me this is strange because I never had to that before
upon the same uninstall/install routine,

Cheers

If I take locale.it.properties, rename it to locale.properties, and place into the same directory as SciTE.exe, I do see the translated menus. Are you sure you are saving into the same directory as SciTE.exe? You shouldn't have to use an All Users directory.
