Win32 file saving transaction patch

Feature request #1225 changes file saving on Win32 to use NTFS transactions where available to ensure metadata like extended attributes are retained and that saving is atomic.

While I can see some benefits here, they do not appear to me to be sufficient to justify the size of the patch. I don’t know about any equivalent features in Linux/macOS/POSIX so can’t see how to ensure that similar functionality could be provided there.

Anyone that has opinions for or against this feature should respond either here or on the tracker.

I'm very interested in the feature and would be happy to review the patch, but I can't find it. Where does it sit?

My recollection is that the patches were emailed to an old account. As they weren’t added to the ticket, I don’t feel I have permission to publish them.

You could try to contact the developer through their SourceForge page or find them through their history.
