So that I may define word.characters as in others.properties...

    word.characters.$(file.patterns.text)=$(chars.alpha)$(chars.numeric)$(chars.accented)-'

... and have cursor navigation (ctrl+left/right) skip entire words instead of stopping at accented characters in a line such as:

Untitled buffers have a language mode defined by default.file.ext. So use that to control your file type then assign word characters.

default.file.ext=.txt
word.characters.*.txt=$(chars.alpha)$(chars.numeric)_#-

So that I may define word.characters as in others.properties...

It is easier to update to new releases if you place custom properties in user options.

I just found out that the problem was that my user options file is in UTF-8 and my new buffer was not. As soon as I changed the encoding of my new buffer to UTF-8 it worked. Thanks for the guidance.

Best regards,
