Hi team,

Last year before GSoC, we had some discussion about mlpack Ruby binding, but we were not sure how to start and didn't get much help from mlpack community.
I was still figuring out the solution and was following Shogun, which is also written in C++ and provide Ruby wrapper to use in Ruby application. Shogun also particiapte in GSoC under NumFOCUS.

So why not collaborate with them and make it compatible with SciRuby gems in this year GSoC.  What do you people think?

Cheers,

Update:

I have discussed few points with Shogun developers: https://github.com/shogun-toolbox/shogun/issues/4814

Please have a look and comment on it.

Cheers,
Shekhar

Dear Shekhar,

This project seems very interesting. I would love to contribute.

As pointed out by Viktor in the issue, there is a working example (https://gist.github.com/vigsterkr/48a5f0523528bbab85bec04464ca2b6c), if the gems are already compatible then maybe we can create tutorials for Machine Learning examples using shogun?

Warm regards,
Alish Dipani

Hi Alish,

Happy to hear that! Yes, only in few of the cases Ruby wrapper is failing. You can do some research and put the task/TODO list in the Idea page.

Feel free to update the GSoC idea page and add yourself as mentor if you want to.
