Hi all,

We’re starting a new project at the eLife Innovation Sprint next week (MERITS: https://sprint.elifesciences.org/projects2021/) that aims to develop a common format and database for storing ratings that researchers give to preprints and articles on various platforms, like SciRate. We're planning to develop pipelines to import different data types into the database at the Sprint, and were wondering if the SciRate data is accessible in some way (e.g. via API) or could be made available for our purposes?

Our project mission very much aligns with SciRate, as we're hoping the database will help people find ratings wherever they exist, e.g., by pointing people to the SciRate platform via a simple GUI that we will develop. We're also planning to develop a common, machine-readable format to store all these ratings, so that we can hopefully increase interoperability between platforms/projects and pave the way for efficient metaresearch into the rating space.

Would appreciate any help anyone can offer on this. The sprint starts this Monday, so please let me know ASAP.

Cheers,

Hey Cooper,

It's not available by any API at present, unfortunately. I'd be willing to have an API to gain access to that data, but unfortunately I don't have time to build it myself. SciRate is, of course, open source and accepting PRs :)

Good luck with the project! Sounds interesting.
