Dear sciraters,
Ben Toner's company draftable (meaning mostly Jaiden Mispy) has been hard at work at recoding scirate to live up to it's web 2.0 mission. Features include search that's as good or better than that of
arxiv.org, latex comments, comment threading/editing, and more. Their current site is up at
and the list of near-term planned improvements is here:
If you go to that page, you can also subscribe to ongoing discussion of them, and can comment on them.
At this point it seems ready to replace the existing version. The tentative plan is to do this on Mar 1. The existing heroku page will start redirecting. It should be possible to do this without losing any data, and only with a few hours of downtime. If this happens during the middle of the day in Australia then hopefully it won't bother users in other continents.
Any thoughts, please let me know!
