does it seem reasonable to people to moderate hide the big discussion in https://scirate.com/arxiv/1510.08863#579 from the main page?

for me i think it's borderline inappropriate on the site itself; and if we continues we should try and "lock" the thread and let them resolve it privately; but at the least i don't think everyone needs to read it.

Hi Noon,

Steve and I were just discussing. I removed the posted emails from
Mark's email and Steve is sending them an email.

We think probably we shouldn't hide it from the main page because
there is actually a lot of valid content here. But we're trying to
get them to simmer down.

Here's the email that Steve just sent:

---------
Hi Mark and Stefano,

Aram and I, in our capacity as SciRate moderators, have been looking
at the comments on SciRate that you guys have been posting. We think
that the tone is borderline for the kind of discussion that we want to
see on the SciRate. In particular, posting private emails (without
both parties' permission) seems to cross a line where we don't want
scirate to be involved, and we have decided to delete these from
Mark's comment. We don't want to censor your scientific comments and
it's up to you how you want to present yourselves in the eyes of the
community.

Both of you should please feel free to further edit your comments to
reflect the fact that we have deleted the posted private emails. As
you well know, having a professional persona online is important, and
we feel like the best way to handle these disagreements is to use an
"assume good faith" policy along the lines of wikipedia. We hope that
your edited comments will reflect this philosophy.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this decision.

Best,
Steve

Well, Mark has just (essentially) added back in the private emails by linking to a text file on his website ...
