In low-traffic categories, showing today's papers is probably not the right thing to do by default, since there likely aren't any. Instead should probably show the last X papers/last Y days with papers.

We need an index of all (current) categories, grouped somewhat sanely (like arxiv homepage) from which you can pick things that you want to subscribe to. Preferably with unobtrusive subscribe buttons/links that only appear on hover? (Ben: This index might also be the default homepage for unlogged-in users.)

Yuri's going to think about the time selector thingy. Should it default to max(1 day, time since I've been away)? At least add a today link, to take you back to the default view. "Prev day" should be "Prev {{period}}".

Should recent comments be the comments for the category you're in (unlogged-in), or the categories you're subscribed to (logged-in).
