This has just been launched by John Baez and Christopher Lee:

IMO, I prefer Scirate, but that's a little unfair as they've only just launched. It seems that it would at least make sense to merge the platforms, supposing the features overlap ...

Or alternatively, SelectedPapers could some how build on top of Scirae, so if people want a more in-depth discussion and review platform, they could get it ...

Or perhaps it's a completely independent thing and now we should use both ...

Thoughts?

Looks great!
We had been talking about this kind of federation before. Assuming we
like their approach, then it would make sense for scirate data to be
formatted in a way that fits into their framework. This seems like
something that doesn't have to be done immediately, but we should think
soon about what would be involved technically, and if there are
policy/UI decisions to be made for it.

Aram,

I think it makes sense to either combine efforts or at the very least be interoperable: making scirate comments appear on selectedpapers and selectedpapers comments appear on scirate.

We're meeting later today to think about the information architecture of scirate (where things should go, how navigation elements should work, etc.) and we'll get your feedback afterwards on what we come up with. You are welcome to join in if you want (or listen in while doing other things; it's at 11am Melbourne time) but be warned that it may be quite a tedious process. After finalizing these things with you, we'll think about making it look good, which shouldn't take long. We have our own things to release this week (hopefully!), but after that we'll focus on getting a presentable version of scirate out.
