How do path and Scion Deamon work ?

Hi
when i read SCMP's code, i saw path and scion deamon variables, but i do not understand what it is and how does it work. can anyone explain it to me ? does path variable contain ISD and AS's value ? does SCION Deamon get values to make path's value ?
