Cannot run local topology in scion vm

When running scion using ./scion.sh run, I get the following output:
Compiling...
fatal: No names found, cannot describe anything.
fatal: No names found, cannot describe anything.
Running zookeeper...
./tools/dc: line 72: docker-compose: command not found
Running the network...
AFAIK, the zookeeper does not start up, as it fails with the second to last output line. If I however manually install docker-compose via apt-get, the terminal complains about wrong usage of docker-compose:

In the system log we can see that all 3 AS from the topology fail to connect to the zookeeper.
