I just tried you method and it WORKED! Moved my neck around, relaxed the muscles and deep DEEP breaths. Almost to hyperventilation. And the scintillating scotoma is gone, right away!! WOW! I have been getting these every so often since childhood. This is the first method that has worked for me. Thank you SO MUCH!

Great!
I don't get many at all now, since I stopped using shampoos (I just use soap even for washing my hair).
But it looks like the deep breathing method can stop them early for some people!

Hello, I just got my first SS that now I know from reading as soon as I got home (happened this morning an hr ago while shopping groceries) I was so worried and I thought I was having a anxiety attack -I've been so stressed-anxiety related, so I told myself calm down -yeah sure 8O and start breathing very deep, of course I was getting kinda dizzy, so the ripple circle on my right vision started to get away thanks God, I think it lasted 10 mins. I was like really ready to just leave and to go to the fast clinic, I thought God I'm gonna pass out right here from a stroke or something but I could feel that pressure sensation on my chest and from the anxiety I have been feeling (I was on Lexapro like for 4-5 years 4 years ago when I quit by being tired of it and started working out more but I still take xanax here and there to help me to sleep)

I was really very scared and really I thought man I'm having a panic attack from all the worrying and anxiety lately, so yeah maybe the deep breathing works.

I hope it never happens again, I'm just glad I found this forum. I took some small xanax when I got to my car and kept breathing deep and slow, it was just so weird and scary! but I finished my shopping ha

Thank you, have a nice day

I have recently been getting 3-4 SSs a week but have now changed my diet (no tea/tannin) which seems to have given me a break, however...
I was just able to stop one for the first time!

Within 2-3 seconds of realising one was starting (saw the blind spot which developed into a short, bright, white line), I immediately:

1) changed the position of my neck and moved it about
2) took some fast, deep breaths to oxygenate the brain
3) I think I also gave myself an adrenaline rush by doing this.

I did react VERY quickly, literally within the first few seconds, and the distinctive white spot disappeared instantly.

I think it's important that YOU TRY THIS and POST YOUR FINDINGS here!
I have only tried this once, so let's see if others can repeat the trick!
Pass the message on.

That sounds horrible. Not to be trite but have you thought about seeing someone, sometimes just saying everything out loud can help...
