Over the past 2 years I have probably had ~20 episodes of scintillating scotoma or ocular migraines with not pain.

It starts as a small area of loss of near center vision.  Then I develop a small  zagged, geometric bright, shiny silver arc which grows and grows to involve the periphery of one side of my vision (involves both eyes equally so this is probably not an eye problem). It then fairly quickly resolves. Sometimes I am tired for 15-20 min afterwards, but recently not usually.

Seen opthalmologists which don't offer any help.

It does not seem to be related to anything more serious, so DON'T WORRY !

I've had mine for a number of years myself, actually just had one this morning after about 2 months of none at all. I think it's probably stress-related as I'm going through a court case right now.
I always wonder if it's some kind of magic trigger of stress, visual stress, and possibly even food. I bought some Irish Cream yesterday that I haven't had for several months and bingo SS this morning. I wonder if that is a connection, or at least a factor toward it.

Once I removed dairy from my diet, I've had vastly less SS episodes. (This includes abstaining from products with milk ingredients like sodium caseinate). Though the headaches and nausea that follow are a lot worse than a few years ago...
