to Scintillating Scotoma
I'm actually experiencing my first SS right now, and was completely
freaked out about it until I started doing some searching online.
I'm a 29 year old female.
Mine began when I got into work around 8am this morning and noticed I
couldn't fully concentrate on my monitor - I had a bright spot right
at the center of my vision. I've had 2 lasik surgeries (a "regular"
and then an enhancement) about 14 months and 5 months ago and started
to fear that I'd dislodged my flap by rubbing my eyes too hard this
morning (allergy season, bah.)
I tried turning down my monitor's brightness, going for a walk, etc.
when suddenly colorful static started making its way across my field
of vision! A bit of furtive googling later, I came across the
wikipedia page for Scintillating Scotoma, which eventually led me
here.
I have experienced one migraine headache before (about 8 years ago)
and hope never to have another one. This SS has been lasting about 2
hours or so for me today, although it's intermittent... so far it's
gone from the tiny dot, made it's way across my vision from left to
right, disappeared, appeared again as the tiny dot, and then went from
right to left. Now it seems to be gone again, just since I started
typing this.
I'm rather queasy and have a tiny headache, but nothing overwhelming
yet. I just hope that I'll be one of the lucky ones like some other
posters here who doesn't develop the proper migraine in a few hours!
