Scratch buffers persist between sessions (e.g. closing and re-opening SciTE will re-open any scratch buffers).
Like is possible on several other editors, e.g. TextAdept (see textadept-scratch).

In Notepad++, a similar feature has become much more complex than it appeared initially.
An extremely simple option that saves scratch files into the session file may be OK but should avoid all non-trivial features like large file support, top line names, file system locations, or file system attributes.
