I'm suffering the exact issue.
Without textbox to input my username, instead I got a busy mouse, and then
a blank
screen. After few seconds the busy mouse appeared again and then blank
screen again.
Just like this, it seems to be repetitive endlessly.
Any tip is expected. Thanks!

just enter the single user mode to uninstall the python-scim input method,
reboot,
then everything return to normal.

Hi, Ikunable. Thanks for your valuable help. I entered the system finally.
But there
is something unexpected. Now this is the full details. In additon to
following your
guide, I also uninstalled the scim inadvertently. So I reinstalled it as
soon as I
entered. While it is weird that all applications can't be launched after the
reinstall, just leaving me a busy mouse and no action subsequently. The
busy mouse
disappeared several seconds later, just like I haven't ever clicked it.
I'm confused where the problem is. scim? scim-python? or anything else?
Any further help is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

forget to mention that I cann't enter the system after the reinstall of
scim when i
reboot.

I won't encounter same problem as you meet, If you sure the problem only
install the
SCIM, you may try to uninstall it and then test if can enter desktop.

What you need to do is to see the error log to find the error details.
use the fail safe mode(single user mode) to login, see the error log in
your home
directory, then you can search for more information you need.

If you can login to the GUI, you may lunch program from console, see the
out put
scream in console, it may be helpful.
