Hi,

I see at http://scikit-hep.org/affiliations.html that scikit-hep is a similar effort in HEP to what Astropy is in astronomy.

If one or two of you are interested and have time to meet a good fraction of the Astropy folks and to see what’s going on in Python in astronomy, I wanted to mention the Python in Astronomy workshop.

The 2019 edition will be July 29 to Aug 2 at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore.

The application deadline is January 31st 2019.

There’s always more applicants than spots, but you can just try.

I think it would be very nice if the connection and exchange is made, and one of you goes and gives a talk on what scikit-hep is.

Hi Christoph,

Me again, doing a backlog clean-up of outstanding emails before the holidays 😊.

That link http://scikit-hep.org/affiliations.html is rather outdated. In fact the site does not reflect at all the way the Scikit-HEP project has evolved. It’s very high on my list to update the site pages with correct and relevant material. Let’s see how far I can get by early January ...

In any case, yes, Scikit-HEP is a bit like Astropy in astronomy, though we did not follow the top-down approach with affiliated packages, in the end. We rather have a toolset. This approach turned out to suit us better.

Further to this email on the forum, you could maybe advertise pyastro 2019 in the PyHEP gitter channel https://gitter.im/HSF/PyHEP? You would ping many people, and somebody might be able to attend (in particular based in the US).

Thanks,

Eduardo
