Hi all,

We are pleased to let you know that the “particle” package is now largely ready for public consumption. It contains 2 main parts:

- Pythonic interface for HepPID, with a few extra goodies such as functions of a PDGID number and a handy PDGID class.

- Equivalent to HepPDT providing access to the PDG data table, again with a few extensions (including extra info atop what the PDG downloadable .mcd file provides!).

Note that we also provide Particle and PDGID aliases for the most common particles – see literals in the README.

The package is rather substantially tested, not only in terms of code but also for what concerns the outputs of the modules’s functions for the various types of particles (leptons, quarks, mesons, ..., pentaquark and exotics). In fact, thanks to the test suite, I found corner cases not dealt with in the original C++ code, and some inconsistencies ...!

We need to work on readthedocs style of documentation but otherwise the README and the actual modules contain already a fair amount of info.

Just drop a line if you have suggestions. I do know of a few little things I will be tuning in the near future, towards a 1.0.0 release. A release 0.2.0 will come out this week.

Last but not least, feel free to give it a try!

Thanks,

Eduardo & Henry
