We just got back from visiting my sister in Springdale, AR. I found a great bookstore that had several books I wanted for $1.50 each. Also my wife and I went through my Mom's house yesterday and found a few things. My sister already gathered up several boxes full for me to take home. One of the items I found was an old Smith Corona Mark V electric typewriter. It needs major cleaning and some work. It works, but the ribbon doesn't advance. I was hoping to get it working for my Grandson to use. My wife knows more about electric typewriters than I do checked it out. She said it brought back memories of her old job when she used them. It was beyond her as to fixing it. I told my Grandson a while back that we need to find him a manual typewriter, it would be easier to fix. ;-)
If anyone has any ideas as to fixing it, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I will see if there is anyone in the area that works on them cheap. I have my Granddad's manual (my Mom's Dad) typewriter that weighs almost as much as my grandson and plus I am keeping that. If I can't fix it or find someone to fix it cheap, I'll just put it away until it can be fixed.
