Dear all,

I would like to inform you that in September a call for applications will be published for a 12-month research grant entitled:

Study of Adriatic benthic communities

intended for master's degree graduates in Biology, Natural Sciences, Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and the Territory, Engineering for the Environment and the Territory, Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage, or equivalent foreign qualifications, to be carried out from October 2024 to September 2025 at my Benthos Ecology laboratory, University of Bologna, Ravenna Campus.

The object of the research is the study of Adriatic benthic communities of both sedimentary and hard bottoms, including natural and artificial structures. The analyses will be conducted in situ and in the laboratory, on samples collected from the surface and by scuba diving. The study of the communities will be associated, if necessary, with acoustic geophysical surveys (e.g. side scan sonar) and visual censuses. The fellow will carry out analyses on samples, datasets and images. If necessary and according to his/her abilities and qualifications, he/she will participate in activities at sea, including sampling.

Skills sought:

• experience in benthic community monitoring methods

• experience in the identification of macrobenthic organisms

• experience in the use of data analysis software (e.g., PRIMER, PERMANOVA+ for PRIMER and R) and cartography (e.g., QGIS)

• diving and nautical experience

• experience in underwater photography

• good knowledge of English, excellent communication and dissemination skills, ability to work in a team as well as independently

Those interested can ask me for more information and/or send me a CV at massim...@unibo.it

Cordiali saluti
