Yeshua,
Of course, you, Deepak and everybody else on these forums are welcome to your beliefs. Also I find Sunday learning circle talks useful very often. But as far as physics is concerned, I value opinions of professional physicists i.e. university faculty doing teaching and research and lab physicists who do physics research and no teaching. So I would be interested if any of Auckland univ physicists agree with you about importance of philosophy for physics. If you want to include ethics and morality in philosophy, then I will say I am talking about philosophy- ethics- morality- spirituality, because last three are of course important for mankind. There is no controversy on that!
Best,
kashyap

Kashyap, I agree with both Deepak and Dan. This is a democratic forum and everyone is entitled to their opinions and views.
Still, since most of us value philisophy and psychology as necessary complements to science and particularly pbysics, I will invite you again to explore if this forum is really for you, and to think twice before posting repetitive unnecessary comments.
Kashyap, I also have a voice in the forum.
"It seems to me that any senior scientist who neglects philosophy and philosophical and ethical issues is a very poor professional and a danger to society. These type of situations ought to be remedied"
"Again, I reject your claim when you say "that is why physicists have very low opinion about contributions of philosophers to science", this is far from the case of the physicist I know and you should back your claim with facts like a letter of the physics community supporting your claim."
References would be good too

Yeshua,
Usual rule of democratic forums is that no one should be forced to accept anyone’s views. Just as you and Deepak have right to reject my views, I have also right to reject your and Deepak’s views. I have mentioned several times Feynman’s, (one of the all-time great physicists) view about philosophy which is “ philosophy is as useful to physicists as ornithology is to birds!” BTW, as I said, Einstein, Schrodinger, Heisenberg, Wilczek and other great physicists are famous for what they did in physics, not because of their philosophical views which may widely differ and change from time to time. If you know of any physicist who says while writing physics theories, he/she considers philosophy, please let me know. We just do not teach or consider philosophy in physics department. That is taught as liberal arts. In an e-mail to Brian, I explained that Einstein’s views about non absoluteness of time came from conflicts of Maxwell’s equations with Galilean invariance and not from any philosophical ideas. Also please separate ethics from philosophy. Ethics is of course very important and spiritual advice from Hindu and some other religions is also very important. We should not mix up all these!
As for belonging to this group, I do learn opposing views, although I do not agree with them. Also I do not get to know as much from these forums about consciousness as I expected when I joined these groups. I have many other colleagues and forums to discuss the issues. So I will reconsider.
Best

Kashyap, concerning your statement, "that is why physicists have very low opinion about contributions of philosophers to science", you ought to consider very seriously if you want to continue to belong to this group of scientists and scholars who have a high regard for philosophy and philosophers.
It seems to me that any senior scientist who neglects philosophy and philosophical and ethical issues is a very poor professional and a danger to society. These type of situations ought to be remedied.
Again, I reject your claim when you say "that is why physicists have very low opinion about contributions of philosophers to science", this is far from the case of the physicist I know and you should back your claim with facts like a letter of the physics community supporting your claim.
This is a comment that may compromise the integrity of this group, so perhaps this is a good opportunity to learn some of the things you learn as a physicist like "tone down and calculate".
