graduation cords

Hi everyone, 

For those of you who coach high school, do you give graduation cords to seniors? If so, what color scheme do you use? Unlike other nationally recognized activities, SciOly doesn't seem to have an official color palette or graduation cords. Some states seem to have them, while many don't and then schools do their own. Curious what you do as I'm trying to figure out colors for cords for my first seniors who have been through SciOly.

The official cords are green and black. I think there is a note about it on the national website.

Hi Alyce!  What a thoughtful way to recognize your seniors!

We don't do anything "official", but we recognize them at our end-of-year potluck party.  They get a small gift and sashes to wear with their graduation gowns with an iron-on transfer of the Science Olympiad logo and our team's logo.  If you plan ahead, the sashes are about $2 each and the iron-on transfers are easy to do.

I can't find it anywhere now, I know NC has a whole set of guidelines based on years of participation, but most of the other schools in IL use black and kelley green. Maybe check what the other schools in your state are using?

Greetings all.  To help the deep desire for sr cords, we offer NSTEM Honor Society cords.  We started a chapter several years ago. It is not just for the SciOly kids. Their colors are red,green, & gold.

Thank you all for the many ideas! Seems like there’s no standard. I’m going to think on it this week and order by weeks end to make it for graduation. Cool that many of you have science honor societies. Haven’t heard of that but something to explore maybe in the future.
