Dulles Invitational Tests Not Open

Good morning coaches!

The Dulles Invitational tests were set to open at 12a this morning - our team is waiting in person to take the tests at our school.  Does anyone have contact information for the Dulles Science Olympiad coach?

Yeah think Dulles is having a tough start, they published a lot of tests late and even on the tests we’re seeing there’s missing images, incomplete questions, text that is just gibberish. 🤷‍♂️

With all comps they publish a main contact on the scilympiad site. Can just google the satellite name with SciOly and can usually find it.

A lot of comps are ran by high schoolers or even middle schoolers so it’s a large production to pull off.

We’re into our 6th satellite this season and will say no comp is ever perfect so always anticipate hiccups. It’s been a nightmare for us lately with external links since the school system blocked external Google drive and forms links so the kids can’t even use the school Chromebooks - ugh 😩 . So either need to bring personal laptops in or use a supervised secondary device just for kids to see the images. Not ideal but what can you do.

The ES are all understanding so been able to work through it all but it’s been a struggle for both ES, coaches, kids, and parents. All part of the fun of SciOly! lol!

If possible there’s lots of satellites out there and if you can swing the time, energy, and cost think it’s worth doing as many as you can even if just partial teams to give kids different experiences. Also if one comp has technical issues and the test is a throw-away which can happen you have other satellites the kids can do.
