Good afternoon, 

 

We are excited to announce that Mount Vernon Middle & High School Science Olympiad will be hosting our first annual Satellite Invitational. We have run an in-person invitational for 7 years; this year we wanted to add a satellite tournament as well.

🗓 Tournament Dates:
February 21-27, 2026

 

🧪 Tournament Format

  • Asynchronous Format: Teams may complete events on different days between February 21-27, 2026.
    • Schools are not required to complete all events in one day.
    • Only students actively testing need to be present and supervised at any given time. 

💰 Registration Fee

  • Cost: $75 per team
  • You'll need to provide an event supervisor or volunteer for each school. If you do not provide a supervisor or volunteer, you need to add $50 to your registration. 
  • Teams must be registered AND paid to be eligible to compete
  • Deadline: Registration must be received by February 6, 2026
  • Checks must be received by February 20, 2026
  • Payments can be made check.

How exciting! Best of luck!

The timing is kind of late though, like for our region (SoCal) this is after regionals. So maybe treat this as extra practice before heading to state, but if the kids aren’t state bound might be hard to motivate them to do a satellite tournament. 

Anyways, it’s great to have options and always supportive of schools hosting them! Takes a ton of effort!
