PMC y <mixed-citation>

Buenos días, nuestra revista se encuentra en proceso de evaluación técnica en PubMed Central y al evaluar técnicamente los XML-JATS generados con el Markup, como única corrección, nos solicitan eliminar la etiqueta <mixed-citation> con el contenido en texto plano. Nos piden lo siguiente:

"Note: the simplest solution would be to simply omit <mixed-citation>. However, if it must be included, please follow the following prescription:
- <mixed-citation> can’t include only plain text. Tag a minimum of the following tags if they are part of the original citation: <name> of the author, editor, etc.; <source>; <year>; pagination; DOI. (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/pmcdoc/tagging-guidelines/article/tags.html#el-mixedcit)
- Don’t duplicate the citation number label as plain text in <mixed-citation>
- If using both <mixed-citation> and <element-citation>, use <citation-alternatives> to wrap both instances of each citation, following https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/pmcdoc/tagging-guidelines/article/tags.html#el-citation-alternatives"

Les agradeceríamos si pudieran indicarnos lo siguiente:

1) ¿Estamos marcando las referencias de manera equivocada? 

2) ¿cómo podemos solucionar este problema a futuro realizando la marcación con el Markup? 

3) Para corregir los xml ya procesados  ¿hay alguna manera más automatizada de corregirlos o debemos corregir manualmente cada referencia?

La herramienta Markup generará un XML con las necesidades de publicación de SciELO.
