Folks, while we are on the subject of energy:

ExxonMobil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExxonMobil
"It is a direct descendant of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil
company, and was formed on November 30, 1999, by the merger of Exxon
and Mobil. Its headquarters are in Irving, Texas. It is affiliated
with Imperial Oil which operates in Canada"

As some of you remember the Rockefeller family are also involved with
GMO etc. Also, the following looks interesting:

Private Empire: ExxonMobil and American Power
By Steve Coll, 2012, EPUB 704pages
http://filepost.com/files/b1c34473/Private_Empire.epub/

I skimmed through it, it has Nigeria, Venezuela, Indonesia, CIA etc
looks like a good summer read ;)

While we are on the subject of Nigeria, here is an interesting project:

Shell in Nigeria: It’s Worse than Bad
http://ecowatch.org/2012/shell-in-nigeria-its-worse-than-bad/

Campaign site: http://worsethanbad.org

The campaign is organized by: Milieudefensie (Friends of the Earth
Netherlands) NGO founded in 1971: "We have a long history of
campaigning against Dutch companies that damage the environment beyond
Dutch borders, such as oil company Shell."

These are worthwhile efforts but the question is whether there are
local Nigerian organizations fighting this. Anytime there is a
outsider there is always the danger of covering local efforts.
