Folks, there is an activist organization in US:
INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence

A few years ago they got a large financial support by the Ford
Foundation but they then the foundation reversed their decision
because INCITE had expressed support for Palestinians. INCITE then
reacted by organizing a conference to discuss the issue of financial
support for NPO/NGOs. The papers from that conference have been
published in the book:
The Revolution Will Not Be Funded: Beyond the Non-Profit Industrial
Complex By INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence
South End Press 2007, PDF 256 Pages

This issue is very relevant to developing countries because there are
multiple donors and multiple agendas. As they say there is no such a
thing as a free lunch.
Finally if you google around you can easily find info about the
background of the Ford Foundation with ties to CIA and years ago to
the Nazi party. A great site that casts a critical eye on the whole
NPO/NGO scene relating to environmental issues is
