We need to keep an open mind for science as a general attitude, but
keep in mind that science is not a neutral thing.
It could be with adequate testing it can be shown that genetic
manipulation is safe, but that will take time
> Is it possible to make GM open source?
I think we should not use 'open source' outside software
There are groups like the one in California who have begun
experimenting so it will be difficult for governments to control it in
general. The only thing we can hope for is to control large
corporations like Monsanto
I recommend the following book:
Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation
By William F. Engdahl, PDF 360p
http://uploading.com/files/EAVP4E5L/0973714727.rar.html
Lots of good info on Monsanto, GMO and the Rockefeller family. Science
clearly is not neutral

Maybe open source adopted wholesale may not work in this specific case
(life is involved ), but the philosophy will no doubt influence things
more positively and openly. open source could be useful in other
areas, eg education
