Folks,

pleased to post the following story and note Brenda's involvement:

Zambia: Bloggers Form Zambian Bloggers Network
http://globalvoicesonline.org/2012/05/10/zambia-bloggers-form-zambian-bloggers-network/

Congratulations to Brenda and lets hope that other countries will form
similar groups besides Kenya, Ghana and Zambia.

The idea for training has potential to evolve to something similar to PAT.

My only suggestion here is that Zambian bloggers and bloggers in other
countries should try to develop based as much as possible using your
funding and know-how. HIVOS started originally funded by the Dutch gov
but now has to get at least 25% funding from private funding and that
opens the door for people like George Soros to be involved. The less
you are involved with people of that ilk the better imo.

The PAT model seems to me the better option: volunteer work, pay as
you go from what is available if it is available, really a grass roots
movement.

Dear All,

Thanks for all your encouraging words over this initiative. We still have baby steps and hope to use your advice.
We are ready to help others start off these networks in other countries.

Really interesting stuff happening in Ghana as well. We just held our
first BlogCamp. If interested check http://blogcampghana.com and
#blogcamp12 (on Twitter) for details. Ghana Decides is also another
initiative aimed at enriching discussions as we go towards the
elections.

Dear Gameli,

AAh actually i have attended a Ghana bloggers meeting and it was that meeting that gave me an idea of starting the Zambian Bloggers Network. During elections we set up  www.bantuwatch.org  where we used to get SMSs on electoral mal practices.... it was a very nice experience.

Keep it up

regards

Another good post from the same site posted the other day by Gameli:

Science Blogging in Sub-Saharan Africa
http://globalvoicesonline.org/2012/05/20/science-blogging-in-sub-saharan-africa/

Hopefully this list can help highlight some of these people in the future
