I have gotten a CyberMaxx 2.0 HMD and have tried to use it with
descent and some other games but can't get the tracker to work. I
assume it takes some software drivers. Every time I go to
http://www.vmaxx.com I get an error on my browser. Does anyone else
have trouble getting to the Victor Maxx homepage, I know they quit
making the CyberMaxx but did they take down the homepage as well?

If anybody knows where I can get a copy of the original documentation,
software, and video that came with the CyberMaxx 2.0 when it was
shipping, please let me know.

Thanks,

Bob Ladrach

Hi Bob,

try typing
descent -cybermaxx -maxxtrak 2
change 2 if your CyberMaxx is connected to some other port

If this doesn't work let me know.

BTW what happened to Victor Maxx? Can we still get parts ect?

Hi all,

As far as the two messages below VictorMaxx, the makers of the
CyberMaxx, seemed to have closed down their sites. Both for the WWW
and FTP. The FTP site used to have all the software needed to run the
CyberMaxx. Well, it seems that it's no longer available.

In relation to the CyberMaxx a company called Pemstar has taken over
the making of it back in Feb.'96. But I don't know if they are still
doing them.

Their site is located at:

http://www.pemstar.com

Bye for now.
Jorge.

PS. Can one put the CyberMaxx drivers available to the general public
in a FTP site or are they still copyright material?

It is true. VictorMaxx is just a piece of paper these days. The HMD
section of VictorMaxx was dumped last summer so that resources could
be focused on the AutoDuel project (a VR LBE center based on Steve
Jackson's "Car Wars" game). Due to the lack of funding, however, the
project was aborted and everyone was layed off. As of today, it is
simply a corporate shell with no employees or projects. As far as I
know, there is no designated location for repairing or buying new
parts for the CyberMaxx (although I have 2 non-working headsets myself
if someone is desperate for parts), but the web site and ftp site have
been gone since November '96.
