We are pleased to announce, as the first event in our "Visions of
The Future" speaker series, an evening with Brenda Laurel. She will be
speaking with the BCS VRGroup at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, via a live 3-way PictureTel video-link from the new
Electronic Cafe in Palo Alto, California. Also on the link will
be the Electronic Cafe in Santa Monica along with members of the Los
Angeles Virtual Reality Group.

Brenda Laurel is a researcher, writer and consultant in the areas of
interactive media, interface design and virtual world development. Her
books include COMPUTERS AS THEATER & THE ART OF COMPUTER HUMAN
INTERFACE DESIGN. Brenda Laurel has consulted for Apple Computer and
is currently working at Interval Research Corp. She will discuss
PlaceHolder, a research project which explores a new paradigm for
narrative action in virtual environments.
