in SPSS
In FREQUENCIES use /NTILES= n
if you just want to see the values that separate the ntiles
In RANK use /NTILES(n) if you want each case to have a new variable with a value for which ntile it is in.

How do you calculate Tertiles using SAS. Proc Univariate gives you the quartiles. I have checked in the help section in SPSS and SAS and nothing was mentioned on how to calculate .  I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

PROC UNIVARIATE lets you output any percentile you want using the
PCTLPTS= option of the OUTPUT statement.
