Dear Edstat-l:

I would like to get some recommendations on what statistics
packages for PCs are good, powerful, and moderately easy to use. I am
making this request on behalf of someone else. He informs me that he is
interested in general statistics packages which are capable of
extracting subsets of data based on various criteria from a large
database. He uses Excel and Visual Basic regularly.
