Hello,

I want to ask you all a few questions.

During their activities on the Moon surface, did Apollo crew members
wore the same spacesuits, which were worn during the launch and the
landing, only putting something like white hoods with dark filters on
their bubble helmets ? If so, was it done (instead of using
completely different spacesuits and helmets) to minimize the
mass of equipment brought to the lunar surface ? In photos, where
commander, CMP and LMP are seen together in spacesuits, it appears
that CMP wore a different kind of spacesuit than the other two (it had
only one row of valves instead of two). Was the additional row of
valves meant to be connected to the portable life support system,
while still inside the LM, with the other row still connected to LM's
life support ? Was the CMP's spacesuit simplified in some other ways
too, making it unusable for EVA ?

The same question about Skylab: did the crew members use their
"regular" spacesuits for EVAs, only wearing similar hoods on their
bubble helmets ? From Skylab EVA photos it appears that the hoods
were different from those used on the Moon or even completely
different helmets were worn. Is it true ?

Were these hoods or different helmets necessary during
EVAs to protect:

- eyes from the very bright sunlight;

- head from the solar heat;

- head from micrometeorides;

- all of the above ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Andrejs.
