SCI.SPACE.SHUTTLE - January 2001

(for the threads, search on: Challenger Cover Up, The Truth
and on Challenger accident prevented)

In these threads, the Human O-Ring "expanded to fill the gap" so to
speak.

More artillery arrived, some of it capable of defending the O-ring
theory in legal and technical terms. The target was my middle son,
who had just posted for the first time in sci.space.shuttle. He had
done so on my behalf (anonymously and of his own volition) because he
was proud of me and because he thought it was the patriotic thing to
do, not because he had a vast space shuttle background. It took a lot
of courage, because he was under the care of some doctor's at the
time. He felt that he was my last hope, because for more than fifteen
years my pleas had fallen on deaf ears.

At any rate, the expanded Human O-Ring included:

William Bianco, Douglas Pratt, Chuck Stewart, Patrick Schaaf, Richard
A. Schumacher, Derek Lyons, Greg D. Moore, Brian Thorn, Pix!, Jorge R.
Frank, wolfshadow4, Andy, GCGassaway, David Higgins, PixelCat, Art
Fuldodger, Lynn Killingbeck, Karel Jansens, Paul F. Dietz, and Stephen
Clark.

(There may have been later threads that month with still more players,
but the point is that Paul felt the need to use more handles to defend
me. His background is in high-level security and law enforcement, and
before the doctors took over he was as good as they get at what he was
doing. He started talking to me about the flak he was getting on the
web after his first s.s.s post, and I tried to give him a bit of help
over the phone. I knew absolutely nothing then about newsgroups, but
I still had some facts in my head about space shuttles. I also
encouraged him to get off the medications and start using herbals,
which he did, COLD TURKEY. It almost killed him, but he is MUCH
better now for it, AS LONG AS PEOPLE TREAT HIM LIKE A MAN.)

TO BE CONTINUED - How I proceed from here is going to depend on s.s.s.

<< More artillery arrived, some of it capable of defending the O-ring
theory in legal and technical terms >>

Neither of your sons were capable of either.

<< It took a lot of courage, because he was under the care of some doctor's at
the time >>

"He" should continue that care, and stay the hell off of the net, or at a
minimum, the sci.space groups.

<< He felt that he was my last hope, because for more than fifteen years my
pleas had fallen on deaf ears. >>

If "he" was your last hope, you are out of hope, pal.

<< names snipped>>

You forgot Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Boogeyman and
the Grinch.

<< but the point is that Paul felt the need to use more handles to defend
me. >>

And our point is that your theory is indefensible. "Paul" was probably the
worst defense you could possibly put forward.

<< His background is in high-level security and law enforcement, >>

Then he should stay the hell away from subjects he obviously is NOT familiar
with, namely, the space shuttle.

<< He started talking to me about the flak he was getting on the web after his
first s.s.s post, and I tried to give him a bit of help over the phone >>

*Really*? I specifically remember him telling us that your phones were
inoperable, and that was why he was posting in your defense. So, your phones
*were* working, and apparently NOT being monitored (else why would you have
these discussions...??)

<< I knew absolutely nothing then about newsgroups, but I still had some facts
in my head about space shuttles. >>

Don't mistake "fact" for "opinion"

<< It almost killed him, but he is MUCH
better now for it, AS LONG AS PEOPLE TREAT HIM LIKE A MAN >>

When he begins to ACT like a man, he'll get treated as such.

<< TO BE CONTINUED - How I proceed from here is going to depend on s.s.s. >>

Let me make a suggestion on how to proceed: GO THE FUCK AWAY.

Gee, there was a time I actually ENJOYED reading this group. I wonder how
many people were turned off by this bullshit for good.

Pathetic, man.

John, I'm not certain exactly what your problem is, but I am sure some
psychologist somewhere has invented a really long Latin name to describe
it.

These paranoid rantings by you and your sons started out as amusing. Now
they are merely pathetic. I hope that Paul, Daniel, and you can get the
medical help you need in order to resume normal, productive lives.

This is a terribly sad business all round. Sad for the mentally
ill people who deserve our sympathy and respect; sad for those who
knew the astronauts who died aboard STS 51-L and for whom painful
memories are stirred up by these obsessive and largely groundless
claims which -- even if true -- would be of no real consequence.
The reference to "the Human O-Ring" is exactly the kind of phrase
likely to be hurtful, which I don't think you intend.

I'm afraid that I think the best thing would probably be to treat
him like a patient. When you say "TREAT HIM LIKE A MAN", we really
would not be helping him by treating him as a fellow debater on a
point of contention among interested people.

> TO BE CONTINUED - How I proceed from here is going to depend on s.s.s.

It would, I think, be considered a service to us all if you would
tell us what would make this whole sorry business cease. You have
put your case, and it has not won any converts, as far as I can see.
Perhaps you should be trying elsewhere, perhaps not, but it is neither
constructive nor civilised to keep at it here. I think we all regret
the suffering of your family, but not even that is being helped.

So,

You boast about the way you encouraged your emotionally
disturbed son to wade into a situation where you were
afraid to venture.

> At any rate, the expanded Human O-Ring included:

<snip list>

And now, instead of addressing the issues your purported
"theories" might raise, you attempt to start yet another
flamewar in s.s.shuttle to cover up your own admitted
inability to argue your claims successfully.

You are a pathetic asshole and are beneath contempt.

<self-serving screed snipped>

> TO BE CONTINUED - How I proceed from here is going to depend on

No.

You have no intention of attempting to argue your claims
before the group.

You are too cowardly to do so.

You are just sizing up the groups reactions to find an
opening for another trollfest.

<smirk> my ass! *I* was listed in the very first group!!! Nanner
nanner.

Sort of reminds me of when I arrived at a new barracks, to find that one
of my new roomies had a prayer list tacked to the door. The first thing
he said to me was to ask where I was going to spend eternity; when I
answered "Cleveland," he put my name at the head of his list.

...which shows your lack of newsgroup and internet incompetence. (Among
other things...)

If you guys would quite your stupid games and quit enviting the
responses you get, all would be a lot better. I mean shit, if a bunch
(read: *most*) of people are saying the same thing against you (methods
etc.) doesn't that light a bulb and make you all ask yourselves what the
hell you are doing wrong?

His medical condition is of no concern here. If he has some sort of
condition, he shouldn't even be pursuing this. This also should ring a
bell...

Hey, I made it into the list twice!
