THE SPOKES OF THE WHEEL OF LIFE
THE SPOKE PERSONALITY
The Spokes of our "Wheel of Life" are represented
by the constellations of:
JUPITER (Sagittarius DEC 17 - JAN 14)
NEPTUNE (Pisces MAR 15 - APR 14)
MERCURY (Gemini JUN 15 - JUL 16)
PLUTO (Virgo SEP 17 - OCT 17).
(NOTE: you must use the NEW dates shown above for
this NEW ASTROLOGY to work.)
Spokes then are a combination of the astrological
effects similar to the influences of the planets
JUPITER, NEPTUNE, MERCURY and PLUTO.
Using the analogy of our wheel, the spokes
run back and forth from the rim to the hub.
Hence, those born when the Sun was in any one of
these four astrological influences are the
"gadabouts" of our society.
They are constantly changing course and location,
often times upon the spur of the moment. It
might be said that Spoke people live to a much
greater degree within the world of "alpha
rhythms" which are the brain wave patterns which
have little to do with the practical side of the
mind.
Because of this sensitivity of this more psychic
side of the brain, Spokes are receptive to the
distractions of the environment to a much greater
degree than Rims or Hubs. They seem to "feel"
when things will turn out right and rely upon
their sixth sense or hunches to guide them
through life.
This psychic receptiveness is one of the major
reasons Spoke natives make the best psychics,
psychologists and hypnotists. Also, because of
this environmental sensitivity, the time needed
for the acceptance of a new idea by this group
can be a few moments or hours, but seldom more
than a few days.
The Spokes, as a group, have little long-term
malice within them. It is true that they throw
outrageous temper tantrums at the drop of hat (I
can't believe I wrote that), but these outbursts
have only momentary intensity. Terrible things
may be said during the course of one of these
outbursts, yet an hour later the Spoke has
usually forgotten the entire incident. A need to
verbalize the emotions seems to be the basic
cause of this type of behavior.
What a Hub or Rim might think of a emotional
fireworks is merely a Spoke defense mechanism or
a means of getting rid of feelings to which they
have difficulty relating. Because of this, the
Spoke natives get a lot of attention during their
school years. They will speak out about
everything they feel.
Spokes have the ability to involve themselves in
a new game or project with surprising ease. They
are always looking for what is next in life.
They love the interchange of ideas and opinions
and consequently are the most academically
oriented of our society. Spokes are constantly
bouncing between the learning experience
process and its practical application. This is
why a great number of Spoke people are
professionally oriented or employed in the
helping professions.
Spokes tend to approach sexuality with the
same mental attitude they apply to the rest of
life. To them sex is a form of communication.
They use it to get closer on a mental level.
They have the normal sex drives of all humans but
are more flirtatious and shy when intimately
involved. They may experiment with new partners
because they are afraid of missing something, but
generally do not stray far from home.
Social attitudes are particularly important to
the Spokes. They are attracted to the upper class
values and institutions of our world. They have
a tendency to be class - conscious and somewhat
snobbish in their approach to making friends and
seeking employment. Not only must the job pay
well, but the social level of their fellow
workers and the professional level of their jobs
are also relevant.
Spokes are the mental people of our society. They
are intro-spective, calculating and analytical.
You will find them constantly examining their own
and others' emotions and motives. They pay a
great deal of attention to the moral codes and
class distinctions of our world so they will
always know the "proper" thing to do. However,
they only pay attention to these rules when
they are out in public. What takes place behind
closed doors is another story.
Usually these people are nervous and high-strung
by nature. They are always ready for a party,
and after two drinks, ready for anything.
Be sure and start those lists of those close to
you and place them in these three major
categories of Astrological influences. If you
do make these list, within a few weeks or
months the truth of the existence of these first
three divisions of the astrological influences of
celestial sphere will suddenly become obvious.
If you want an astrology that works every time
this is the way to start. Regards, Pete

Hmmmm ... I've been in the same career for 27 years,
in the same house for 10 yrs (and the same geographic
area for 17 years), drove the same car for 11 yrs
(finally bought a new one just last year). I don't
think anyone I know would classify me as a
"gadabout," not by any stretch of the imagination.
So this part doesn't fit at all.

Funny -- the one adjective most people use to
describe me (besides intelligent and beautiful)
is "practical." ("Rational" is another one.)

Hmmmm ... don't know about this. I tend to rely
more on skill and knowledge than on "hunches" or
blind luck.

Depends on the "new idea." If I think it might
be a useful one, I'll adopt it in a heartbeat.
If I perceive the idea to have no practical use,
I'll more than likely ignore it until such
evidence as to its utility is presented.

Nope, not even close. I'm a "hoarder" when it
comes to anger and emotion. I'm the type that
will forgive, but NEVER forget, and I'm prone
to biding my time, plotting revenge. I don't
ever recall having exhibited anything that might
even remotely resemble a tantrum (you're welcome
to ask my mother). I get quiet when I get angry,
quite the opposite of the behavior described in
the above paragraph.

Not sure what the above is saying. I got a lot of
attention in school because I made the highest
grades in the class. I was also known as a very
quiet conscientious student, not a discipline
problem in the least -- a bit of a "teacher's
pet." I rarely spoke up unless specifically
called upon. Even today, I tend to be rather
reserved.

This is probably true, and one of the reasons I
chose the career I did (it affords me the
opportunity to work in a variety of areas within
a business enterprise).

This also fits pretty well.

Don't understand the above statement -- "flirtatious
and shy" seem to be contradictory. And I'd be
willing to bet that MOST people (not just Spokes)
view sex as a form of communication.
> They may experiment with new partners
> because they are afraid of missing something, but

Hmmmmm ... nope, not really. And again, not sure
what this is really saying "... do not stray far
from home" -- Does this mean Spokes won't travel
to meet someone? or that they only get involved
with those who are like them?

Only partly true. I like "nice things" and am
happy to finally be able to afford them, primarily
because of the quality and value they represent.
However, the "social level" of my co-workers is of
no importance to me whatsoever. There are
attributes that are FAR more important to me than
social standing (loyalty, shared values, etc.).
What are "upper class values" and how are they
different from other values?

Probably true to a certain extent.

I don't think so ... no. Class distinctions
just don't matter much to me. As far as always
knowing the "proper" thing to do, no, I don't.
I have to guess just like a lot of folks.

Couldn't be more wrong. I'm rather serene, rarely
feeling more than a slight case of butterflies
(before a performance, for example). Even when
under tremendous pressure at work, I never blow up.
Furthermore, my idea of a good evening is a quiet
dinner at home with a few friends. I'm just the
opposite of the proverbial "party animal," which
is the implication of the above paragraph.
So, how'd we do? The majority of the characteristics
described for Spokes do not fit me at all; in fact,
the exact opposite seems to hold true more often
than not. A few seemed partially correct, while
only a couple seemed to fit with no qualification.

What do you mean by "works"? If you mean "accurately
describes the characteristics of an individual," then
I've just shown that it *doesn't* work every time.
So, thanks, but I'll pass. This just about matches the
accuracy of the two readings I had from the two
different AFA-certified astrologers some years
back -- two wildly different readings, based on the
same exact input, neither of which was more than 20%
accurate concerning past occurrences, and regarding
specific predictions, 0% accurate.

Ah, good. I was waiting for my category to come along. Hey, if Justin Hall can
buy this astrology lark, I'll cheerfully devote ten minutes of my evening to
charting a quick scorecard of your Spoke personality analysis. Sitting
comfortably? Then let's begin.

Okey-doke.

I value constancy and routine highly. It irritates me hugely when the
vicissitudes of life result in my having to change my plans. 0 for 1, so far.
This, at least, is a "real" statement about a person's personality, as opposed
to the vague platitudes used by most astrologers ("You have a great sense of
humour, and enjoy food..."). But it's a miss.

Well, I sleep a lot. But I also value function over form in all things. I'll
call that a miss. 0 for 2.

I'm a journalist. But hey, maybe I'd make a great psychic. Who knows. I won't
count this as a hit OR a miss.

Not much of an observation. "You are not pigheaded; sensible new ideas are
accepted by you inside a week." Still 1 for 4, but now I'll add 1 wide
delivery. I'm here, Pete. Aim for me.

I think those of us with hair-trigger tempers frequently get calm again pretty

Journalism? A profession? Schyeah, right. You also cast your net wide, there; I

you have a good chance of getting by accident, and you managed a 29% hit rate.
You also tried it on with 6 catchall statements, just like those old-school
astronomers you insist you're so different from.
>If you want an astrology that works every time
>this is the way to start. Regards, Pete
Hey, at least you're not asking for money.
I definitely agree, Ian. I became enamored of astrology as a
teenager. The antepenultimate and penultimate nails were
hammered into the coffin based on the aforementioned "readings."
The final nail came as a result of a visit I paid to my place of
birth (to attend my grandfather's funeral), where I encountered
a childhood friend. This woman was born less than a minute after
I was, in the same hospital. Our mothers were good friends, and
we even share the same given name. Those are the ONLY
similarities between us. In nearly every aspect, we are total
opposites. Our "major life experiences" are totally different.
Yet, we presumably share the same horoscope, and therefore should
have been ruled by the same extraterrestrial influences, if such
influences existed.
This, combined with a healthy dose of rationality (most likely
brought about by the growing distance between the birth event and
my present state), led me to the conclusion that astrology might
provide some minimal entertainment value, but little more.
Until/unless someone can demonstrate the existence of the "forces"
("astrological energy"?) supposedly exerted by the stars and
planets at the time of one's birth, and provide some kind of
theoretical explanation as to how such forces can operate in such
a way as to influence one's life, I have no choice but to remain
skeptical.

Good try, Lana, but I'm afraid you're wasting your time.
As most of us know, the only astrological effect that has ever been
demonstrated is the "Barnum effect" but, sadly, it is the one effect
which astrological "theory" can neither account for nor predict.

test
the success of this system that boasts "it works every time".
As good skeptics we should approach this statement in a scientific method,
therefore I propose a scorecard numbering system for each of the

+++++++++++++++++
THE HUB PERSONALITY WITHIN THE WHEEL OF LIFE.
Like the hub of a wheel, picture these individuals as the core or inner
strength of the entire wheel.
1a. They approach the world as equals, accepting only what they feel is
right for themselves and rejecting or ignoring all that does not meet their
standards.
1b. The Hub person denies the validity of any rule or authority except his
own.
1c. Merely knowing that something is morally or legally right or wrong is
not enough for the Hub to accept the practice.
1d. Hubs must personally investigate all matters that directly affect
their lives before they will accept anything as "truth" to live by.
2a. Telling a Hub to do something without telling him why is an
exercise in futility. These people are the most obstinate and
argumentative of the entire wheel. Everything they say or do is subject to
complete analysis at some time or another.
2b. They are constantly re-thinking what has gone before and always trying
to integrate new data to keep their mental computers up to date. Cyril
Fagan once pointed out that Hubs should be considered dangerous because
they think too much. Normally, a Hub will have to evaluate all new
information in light of his previous experiences before accepting it as
truth.
2c. Because of this need to investigate everything so thoroughly, a Hub is
slow to accept changes in all aspects of his life.
2d. Six months is about the time needed by the Hub to bring about a major
change in job or location.
3a. Solar Hubs work for power and recognition. Money is important to
the Hub since it represents a form of power,
3b. but its acquisition is seldom his primary motive for activity.
3c. A Hub native is convinced that if something is done well, monetary
rewards will automatically follow. Because of this they usually do exactly
what they want to do.
3d. In just about every organization you will find Hubs either at the
center of power or very close to it. They seem to gravitate to positions
of responsibility as a matter of course and they enjoy seeing a job well
done.
4a. The Hub's power syndrome can also, paradoxically, be their
greatest weakness. They are usually involved in a power struggle at all
times, either at work or when they are using their strength to manipulate
others around them. Operating only within their own reality, they usually
fail to see how this constant need to be involved weakens their ability to
realize their true goals. Hubs are always playing "Who's is going to run
the show and be the most responsible?"
4b. If they are not involved in some sort of continuing
challenge they get bored very quickly.
5a. You must be very careful about giving your word to Hub persons as
they have a habit of keeping theirs and expect you to do the same. They do
exactly what they say they will do and do not understand someone who does
not. Once you program a Hub to do something for you, he may surprise you
with the dedication he brings to the task.
5b.The key to understanding why Hubs are so intense about life is to
always remember the complete control of their environment is the rainbow
they pursue.
5c. They are always seeking to test themselves against the rest of the
world. Hence, if you can get Hubs to commit themselves (not always an easy
task), they will approach the problem from a survival standpoint.
6a. This is not to indicate that Hubs will not lie, cheat or steal.
They are not automatically pure and noble. In fact, they make some of the
best professional criminals and charlatans (usually takes a Hub to catch a
Hub).
6b. If a Hub cheats you, though, it is probably because you have violated
your own ethics rather than his. The old saw that "You can never cheat an
honest man" is the best way to protect yourself from this group.
7a. Sexually, the natives of the Hub constellations are the most
intense. Sex with a Hub partner can give one the feeling of being used.
The Hub will demand complete self-satisfaction.
7b. These people are the most passionate of the entire wheel and are
capable of spending days at a time in pursuit of the pleasures of the
bedroom.
7c. In fact, all pleasures are extremely important to the Hubs and they
tend to spend most of their time pursuing them.
7d. Hubs are usually slow to anger but are capable of good solid grudges.
8a. Of the three categories of the wheel, Hubs are the most patient and
will carefully plot retribution for wrongs received.
8b. This is only true if they take the time to retaliate at all.
8c. In general, Hubs do not deal in revenge, which is a Rim emotion.
8d. However, if pushed past the point of reason, the result is usually
unpleasant and permanent.

THE RIM PERSONALITY
1a. Solar Rims are the executives, managers, and all around doers of our
world.
1b. They relate to driving the trucks, typing the letters, selling the
products, shipping the boxes, managing the store - getting it done - now.
1c. They accomplish the million and one tasks that supply us with food,
shelter, and entertainment.
2a. Rim people are basically motivated by immediate self gratification.
2b. They do not spend a great deal of time worrying about the
philosophical "why" of the universe, but are more interested in the "how"
and "when." "How" does the job get done? "When" do I get paid?
2c. Because of this, it is unusual for Rims to work for
future rewards.
2d. The major exceptions to this general rule are
within the areas of politics and education.
3. However, even idealistic Rim political aspirations tend to conceal "do
it my way" power motives. The Rim personality will weigh the value of an
education in relation to job security and entry level income. This is
probably why so many teachers are Rims.
4a. The Rim native will tend to business as long as it is to their
advantage.
4b. However, if a contract or agreement becomes onerous or unprofitable
they tend to break the pact or refuse to do the job.
4c. This is because Rims work for money.
4d. If they have made a bad bargain, they renegotiate the matter as soon
as possible, usually immediately.
4e. Rims look forward to their time off, so they seldom
combine work and play.
5. Solar Rims tend to be the defenders of the social status quo. One of
the reasons they are this way is that they tend to use systems for their
own advantage. Hence, change within the system can interfere with their
carefully carved niche.
Another reason they tend to defend the way it is has to do with how they
acquire the convictions they live by.
6a. Rims do not begin to develop opinions of their own until they reach
their middle to late twenties.
6b. An adult Rim will continue to reflect the beliefs and opinions of his
parents or some other authority figure with whom he was associated during
his formative years.
6c. This reflective attitude somehow relates to the need of the Rim to
identify with a dominant image as a means of self-identification.
7a. However, during adulthood, or as soon as it becomes necessary for them
to analyze what they believe, they start to question their adopted
opinions.
7b. Sometimes, however, this questioning process
never takes place and the Rims may then become "super patriots" or
"left-wing" extremists.
8a. Rim natives are the most sexually active of the three wheel groups and
are also the most possessive and jealous.
8b. Initially, they approach sex in the same manner as one would engage in
football, tennis or any physical sport. It is a game to be played for
instant gratification, for pleasure, to win, and for the exercise.
9a. Love may come along a little later and complicate Rim sexuality, but
even under these conditions the need for sexual variety as a form of ego
gratification never really disappears.
9b. This may be due to the fact that there are greater problems of
sex-role identification among the Rims than either of the other two wheel
signs.
10a. Male chauvinism and female liberation are Rim concepts.
10b. These native use sex to get what they want to a greater degree than
either the Hubs or the Spokes. However, they refuse to accept any form of
sexual inequality or inadequacy in relation to themselves.

Daniel, do you agree so far?

THE SPOKE PERSONALITY
Using the analogy of our wheel, the spokes
run back and forth from the rim to the hub.
1a.Hence, those born when the Sun was in any one of
these four astrological influences are the
"gadabouts" of our society.
2a. They are constantly changing course and location,
often times upon the spur of the moment.
2b. It might be said that Spoke people live to a much
greater degree within the world of "alpha
rhythms" which are the brain wave patterns which
have little to do with the practical side of the
mind.
3a. Because of this sensitivity of this more psychic
side of the brain, Spokes are receptive to the
distractions of the environment to a much greater
degree than Rims or Hubs.
3b. They seem to "feel" when things will turn out right and rely upon
their sixth sense or hunches to guide them
through life.
4a. This psychic receptiveness is one of the major
reasons Spoke natives make the best psychics, psychologists and hypnotists.
4b. Also, because of this environmental sensitivity, the time needed for
the acceptance of a new idea by this group
can be a few moments or hours, but seldom more than a few days.
5a. The Spokes, as a group, have little long-term
malice within them.
5b. It is true that they throw outrageous temper tantrums at the drop of
hat (I can't believe I wrote that), but these outbursts have only momentary
intensity. Terrible things may be said during the course of one of these
outbursts, yet an hour later the Spoke has usually forgotten the entire
incident. A need to verbalize the emotions seems to be the basic cause of
this type of behavior.
6a. What a Hub or Rim might think of a emotional
fireworks is merely a Spoke defense mechanism or a means of getting rid of
feelings to which they have difficulty relating.
6b. Because of this, the Spoke natives get a lot of attention during their
school years.
6c. They will speak out about everything they feel.
7a. Spokes have the ability to involve themselves in
a new game or project with surprising ease. They are always looking for
what is next in life.
7b. They love the interchange of ideas and opinions
and consequently are the most academically oriented of our society.
7c. Spokes are constantly bouncing between the learning experience process
and its practical application.
7d. This is why a great number of Spoke people are
professionally oriented or employed in the helping professions.
8a. Spokes tend to approach sexuality with the
same mental attitude they apply to the rest of life. To them sex is a form
of communication. They use it to get closer on a mental level.
8b. They have the normal sex drives of all humans but
are more flirtatious and shy when intimately involved.
8c. They may experiment with new partners because they are afraid of
missing something, but generally do not stray far from home.
9a. Social attitudes are particularly important to
the Spokes. They are attracted to the upper class values and institutions
of our world. They have a tendency to be class - conscious and somewhat
snobbish in their approach to making friends and seeking employment.
9b. Not only must the job pay well, but the social level of their fellow
workers and the professional level of their jobs are also relevant.
10a. Spokes are the mental people of our society. They
are intro-spective, calculating and analytical.
10b. You will find them constantly examining their own
and others' emotions and motives.
10c. They pay a great deal of attention to the moral codes and class
distinctions of our world so they will
always know the "proper" thing to do.
10d. However, they only pay attention to these rules when they are out in
public. What takes place behind closed doors is another story.
11a. Usually these people are nervous and high-strung
by nature.
11b. They are always ready for a party, and after two drinks, ready for
anything.

Well, my tongue was distending my cheek quite a fair way while I wrote my
reply, but I did my best to keep my answers honest and accurate.

Yup, no problem.

Y'know, Pete could have got himself another hit on you if he'd added to the RIM
definition "Has a strange, possiibly unhealthy hankering to accumulate
statistics on frivolous subjects" :-)
