Has anyone claimed to have the ability to dowse
for oil, either on site or using a map or both
(both would be using a map and then zooming in
on site)?

The little book I've got about divining says it definitely is done by
various freelancers in America, supposedly with some success. Doesn't
mention any names though. It does refer to them as "doodlebuggers", you
might try that in a Web search. I'm sure I've seen the name Paul Brown
mentioned in that connection, but can't find anything.
