Hello All,

I'm looking for a study I read some time ago regarding false
allegations of sexual assault. It was more of a litriture review
really. I don't remember the name of the author (getting old I
guess), anyone recall reading a study of this type?

There have been quite a few mostly around "recovered memories" or "false
memory syndrome." Googling either of those terms will find many
articles, some of better quality than others, of course.

For a horrifying overview:

I recommend anything by Michael Yapko in the area. EG Yapko, M.D.
(1994) Suggestions of Abuse: True and False Memories of Childhood
Sexual Traumas. NY: Simon & Schuster. very detailed, well-researched
(he spoke to over 800 therapists if i recall correctly) and his usual
clear reasoned style and extensive bibliography.

good luck with yr research

Thank you for your suggestions, but I was looking for a study more
about false allegations than recovered memories. Studies more along
the lines of Lonsway, National Center for Women and Policing 1997, and
Kanin, False Rape Allegations 1994.
