[Q] On the origins of the term "anal-compulsive"

I'm curious about the origins/etymology of the term "anal-compulsive".
Who coined it? What was the experimental basis for this terminology?
Who did the research? Or is this term based solely on theory?

OK, so the correct term it's not "anal-compulsive" (as I wrote in my
original post) but "anal-retentive". I'm curious about the
origins/etymology of this term. Who coined it? (I just read that it
appeared in psychological jargon around 1958, but that's all I know.)

n : (psychoanalysis) a personality characterized by meticulous neatness and
suspicion and reserve; formed in early childhood by fixation during the anal
stage of development (as a consequence of toilet training)

Not sure what it says in the manuals, but a quick net search gives the above
definition, so you have your origin, i'll have another hunt for dates/first
coining etc... (does anyone know, does it get a mention in DSM IV?)

Interesting side note - Ben Affleck describes himself as "anal compulsive" in Season 2 Episode 1 of Project Greenlight, which I just laughed my ass off about and then immediately searched out online.
